Our Story

Once upon a time there was a big white shed...

Located on our two and a half acre property atop a ridge in Clunes, the shed was built in 2013 as a warehouse for our Fair Trade homewares business The Dharma Door. We quickly outgrew her but kept our office in one corner. Over time, she has seen many things come and go - mostly storing samples or furniture for friends and family. We always knew she was destined for bigger and better things though…

And so she was transformed.

Initially we had planned to turn the shed into a simple photo studio for our brand but word got around and as she blossomed, we realised she was too good not to share. We worked with an amazing team of trades to bring our vision to life over four months, adding all the necessary features like insulation and interesting design details as we went along. We chose recycled and eco-friendly materials wherever possible, while also keeping in mind the need for a fresh, light and hardwearing space.

The oversized timber entrance doors are handcrafted with recycled Burmese teak and the white French doors are from a salvage yard. We’ve also included a beautiful archway with soft corners, reminiscent of Mediterranean architecture and large windows for abundant natural light. These features all serve as beautiful backdrops for fashion and homewares shoots alike, while adding to the overall atmosphere of the space.

Our new office is still in a corner of the shed, but don’t worry, we won’t bother you. We’ll be there to greet you and are available if you need us but will also respect your privacy. We might have a quick chat at the coffee machine in the shared kitchen if we happen to be there at the same time!

A new life.

The studio is located on our private property and the surrounding tropical and native gardens have been a labour of love for many years. Gardening is one of our passions and we’re proud to include them as part of our hire offering. We envisage the large tropical leaves acting as a stunning backdrop for a Summer fashion shoot. Dusty grey-green leaf tones of natives like wattle, banksia and grevillea offer year-round beauty. Don’t be shy to ask if you would like some leaves cut for your studio shoot - we’ll usually be happy to accommodate.

With 17 years experience in small business, we appreciate that it’s not always an easy ride, which is why we’ve chosen to create something truly unique for other small business owners to use and enjoy. Our aim is to provide a relaxed space in a beautiful environment for brands and businesses from the region and beyond.

Come and soak up the peaceful atmosphere of the hinterland while creating your next campaign or imagery for your brand. We welcome you to our creative space.
